A Brief Update

With the second week of the new year almost finished, the team behind SpaceDelta find themselves working harder than ever. We’ve been chasing down many bugs relating to spawners and hoppers this week while also working to produce the brand new content that was mentioned in last week’s Dev Notes. With that said, this week will be quite brief; a quick read for you all! Without further adieu, let’s get right into the notes.

For this week, the Administration and Development teams have both been pursuing various bugs relating to spawners and hoppers. These bugs resulted after our new plugin was implemented and the old was put out of commission. That being said, our first note for this week was the spawner system re-coding itself. With the new plugin, users have been noticing various issues with the radius in which mobs spawn as well as the smaller stacks that they spawn in. The former of these issues has been resolved, while the latter is still being worked on. Additionally, spawners now display upgrades when they’re active. Chunk hoppers were also worked on this week, with the ability to farm mob drops via dropping them into the void has been removed. Lastly, a number of backend bugs that were affecting performance were resolved.

Spawners:

An executive decision to re-create the spawner plugin was made at an earlier date, and that decision was put into place this week. The new spawner plugin has brought some minor bugs, including issues with spawning radius, stack numbers, and more. As perhaps the most major change in this week’s Dev Notes, these issues were heavily worked on. The spawning radius was minimized, and the stack numbers are still being worked on. Additionally, spawners now display when upgrades purchased with mob souls are active.

Chunk Hoppers:

As time went on, a rather undesirable fashion of farming mobs was seen many times. This was void farming, the act of placing spawners over the void and having a chunk hopper collect the items. We found this method to be unfair, and have chosen to remove the ability to perform said method. With that, chunk hoppers will no longer collect items that fall into The Void, so be careful not to throw any valuables over the edge of your island!

Backend Bugs:

This week, the team, and almost certainly the players, have both noticed significant drops in performance. This primarily occurred when a certain threshold was met regarding total player count. These bugs were investigated heavily, and a number of them were resolved. You may still notice some performance issues, but rest assured that these are being resolved as quickly and efficiently as possible.

What’s Next?

Like I said, a relatively brief edition of Dev Notes for this week, but we hope it was enjoyable nonetheless. If you missed the announcement in last week’s Dev Notes, we’re hard at work to introduce a new spawn, casino, and storyline. All three of these are set to be released in late January to early February provided no delays occur. Besides all of that brand new fantastic content, the Administration and Development teams will be hard at work resolving the previously-mentioned bugs in addition to any new ones that may arise.
